Performer Spotlight: Marc Taddei

Friday, October 15, 2010

Did you know that Marc Taddei appears on eight Trust Records releases?

'Appears' may be considered a misnomer, as a conductor can seem to be the invisible magician on audio recordings, injecting inspiration and bringing together the magic from performers and the music scores without necessarily making a sound on the releases! Taddei is no slouch with over twenty recordings under his baton, on such diverse labels apart from Trust Records including: Sony, BMG, Koch, Columbia, ASV, Universal, Rattle, Concordance and Kiwi Pacific.

US-born New Zealand conductor Marc Taddei conducts every professional orchestra in New Zealand, is a frequent guest conductor of the major Australian orchestras, and returns every year to conduct in the United States. Following a highly successful tenure as Music Director of the Christchurch Symphony, in 2007 he was appointed Music Director of the Wellington Orchestra in New Zealand's capital city, where he is repeatedly credited for innovative programming and increasing the support of the Wellington concert-going public. Previously, he was also Principal Guest Conductor of the Christchurch Symphony and Associate Conductor of the Auckland Philharmonia.

In addition to his extensive symphonic repertoire, Taddei also works with Opera New Zealand and the Royal New Zealand Ballet, and has appeared with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Julian Lloyd Webber, Horacio Gutierrez, Simon O'Neill, Helen Callus, Angela Brown, Joshua Redman, Pedro Carneiro, Joanna MacGregor, James Morrison, Diana Krall and Art Garfunkel among many diverse artists. He is a graduate of the Julliard School in Manhattan, NY.
